Keynote Speaker:

Bruce Blumberg, PhD University of California-Irvine, Department of Developmental and Cell Biology

National expert on the role of chemical exposures as a contributing factor for obesity and diabetes.

On October 14, 2011,

the Environmental Health Strategy Center (EHSC) and the Goldfarb Center at Colby College will bring together national and state scientific and public health scholars, practitioners, and advocates, as well as national and state policy-makers, faculty and students, to explore the environmental links to obesity. Obesity contributes to a host of health problems. It has been predicted that by 2020, 20% of U.S. health care spending will be for obesity-related illnesses and that more than 20% of U.S. deaths will be attributable to obesity. This event is about Action in response to Science: How do we make changes in policy and practice? What are the most effective actions to take?
